Job Description

Tax Manager Hunt Valley, MD $120,000 to $145,000 plus bonus Most Tax Managers reach a point where the next move isn't really about finding another job. It's about finding a firm that still gives you something to look forward to. More interesting clients. More opportunity to influence the direction of the business. More exposure to people who'll challenge you to keep developing. Because whilst becoming a Tax Manager is a significant milestone, very few accountants want it to be the finish line. If you're looking for somewhere to build the next chapter of your career rather than simply preparing for another busy season, this could be exactly that. Why they're hiring Growth has created the opportunity. The tax team continues to expand, and the Partners are keen to bring in another experienced Tax Manager before workloads become stretched. It's a philosophy that says a lot about the way they operate. Successful firms don't wait until everyone is working flat out before recruiting. They invest ahead of demand so that both clients and employees continue to have a positive experience. That long term thinking runs through the whole business. It's one of the reasons so many people have built lasting careers here, with several of today's Partners having joined the firm as interns. Why Hunt Valley? As the firm's largest office, Hunt Valley naturally offers the broadest variety of work. You'll advise clients across industries including: Real estate Construction Manufacturing Family owned businesses Entrepreneurial companies High net worth individuals No two client conversations feel the same. One day you might be helping a growing construction business plan for expansion. The next, you're advising a family business that's been with the firm for decades. It's varied, commercially focused work that allows you to become far more than someone who reviews tax returns. The sort of firm where careers actually grow It's easy to say there's a clear progression path. It's much harder to demonstrate it. Here, the evidence is already there. Many of the firm's Partners began their careers as interns before progressing through the business. That doesn't happen by accident. Leadership invests heavily in learning, mentoring and giving people opportunities before they think they're ready. As a Tax Manager, you'll play an important role in that journey by supporting Seniors, developing future leaders and continuing to build trusted client relationships of your own. The culture One thing became obvious when I spoke with the leadership team. They're proud of the people they've built around them. Outside of busy season, the firm regularly brings teams together for baseball games, winery visits, crab feasts, picnics and holiday celebrations. Not because somebody decided the calendar needed another social event. Because people genuinely enjoy spending time together. The hybrid working model reflects that same balance. You'll spend four days in the office because collaboration, mentoring and client conversations still matter. You'll also have the flexibility of one day working remotely each week. The practical bits Alongside a competitive salary and bonus, you'll also receive: Fully paid employee health insurance Dental and vision cover Short term and long term disability 401(k) with a 3 percent Safe Harbor contribution after one year CPA exam fees paid Two additional PTO days for every CPA exam Hybrid working A genuine long term career path Who tends to thrive here? Usually someone who's still curious. Someone who enjoys solving technical tax issues but also values building relationships with clients and colleagues. Someone who wants to keep progressing without sacrificing the reasons they joined public accounting in the first place. If that sounds like you, I'd love to tell you more. Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That's fine. Apply the old fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I'll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments. I'm Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don't just look at job specs. I look at people, and where they'll thrive. It's not about filling gaps. It's about finding a fit that lasts. Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don't slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
