They're built over years. Through conversations, trust and becoming the person a business owner calls before making an important decision. If that's the part of public accounting you've always enjoyed most, this opportunity is well worth your time. This role sits within a well established Maryland public accounting firm whose Bel Air office has built an excellent reputation supporting family owned businesses and individuals throughout the local community. It's large enough to offer plenty of opportunity, yet still feels personal in the way it works with both clients and colleagues. Why they're hiring The firm's client base continues to grow, and with that comes the need for another experienced Tax Manager who enjoys working closely with clients rather than simply managing compliance. The Partners have never believed in waiting until people are overwhelmed before recruiting. Instead, they prefer to grow steadily, giving their teams the time and support they need to continue delivering a high standard of service. It's a simple approach, but one that's helped create a business where people genuinely enjoy building long term careers. Why Bel Air? Whilst work is shared across all three offices, Bel Air has developed a reputation for looking after smaller businesses and family owned companies. That means your client relationships tend to become much deeper. You'll get to know the people behind the businesses, understand the challenges they face and become a trusted adviser rather than simply the accountant they see once a year. For many Tax Managers, that's exactly what makes public accounting enjoyable. A culture that's easy to believe Every firm talks about supporting their people. This one has the history to prove it. Many of today's leadership team started their careers here as interns. That tells you everything you need to know about how seriously they take development. People are encouraged to keep learning, ask questions and build careers rather than simply fill positions. It's collaborative, approachable and refreshingly free from unnecessary hierarchy. Life outside busy season Busy season will always exist. That's public accounting. What matters is everything that happens afterwards. The firm regularly brings people together from all three offices for baseball games, winery visits, picnics, crab feasts and holiday celebrations. Not because they have to. Because after working hard together, people actually enjoy spending time together. It's one of those little things that's difficult to explain until you've experienced it. The practical bits You'll also benefit from: Fully paid employee health insurance Family health cover contribution Dental and vision insurance Short term and long term disability Hybrid working with one day from home 401(k) with Safe Harbor contribution CPA exam fees covered Two additional PTO days for each CPA exam Who usually enjoys this role? Someone who enjoys getting to know their clients. Someone who wants to work somewhere where people know their name. Someone who's ambitious enough to keep progressing, but also appreciates that the right culture can make all the difference over the course of a career. If that's what you're looking for, I'd love to tell you more. Not ready with a resume? Or want a bit more information before applying? That's fine. Apply the old fashioned way, or simply reach out to me on LinkedIn or through the Distinct Recruitment website. I'll happily talk you through the role, the firm, and where it could take you before you make any commitments. I'm Abigail Stephen, Recruiter at Distinct. I don't just look at job specs. I look at people, and where they'll thrive. It's not about filling gaps. It's about finding a fit that lasts. Outside of work, balance for me is Pilates to reset, travel to explore, and skiing to recharge. Because the truth is, you don't slog through hours for the love of a spreadsheet. You do it for the freedom it buys you. Same principle here.
