Tax Manager Location:
Livingston, NJ Our client is seeking a Tax Manager to oversee complex tax engagements, support clients with strategic tax planning, and guide a developing team of tax professionals. This role suits someone who enjoys tackling challenging tax matters, cultivating strong client relationships, and contributing to a collaborative, fast paced public accounting environment. In this position, you will manage compliance processes, review tax filings, and provide high value consulting services to a diverse client group. Key Responsibilities Federal and state filings — Manage and review tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other types of entities. Engagement leadership — Lead tax engagements while ensuring adherence to professional standards, deadlines, and budget expectations. Tax planning strategies — Develop and implement tax planning approaches that improve client tax positions. Regulatory updates — Stay informed on tax law changes and communicate relevant updates to leadership and staff. Team supervision — Supervise and review work completed by staff accountants, senior team members, and managers. Client relationship management — Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication and high level consulting. Mentorship and development — Mentor and develop team members through coaching, project leadership, and performance evaluations. Tax research — Conduct tax research and advise clients on how regulations and legislative changes may affect them. Workflow coordination — Coordinate engagement schedules and maintain efficient workflow across teams. Risk identification — Identify risks and opportunities for clients and provide clear recommendations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years overseeing individual and corporate tax compliance. Experience in a senior tax or accounting role within public accounting. Strong communication skills and comfort in client facing interactions. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a team oriented environment. Active CPA license required. Master's degree in Taxation preferred.
