  • 165,000 annually, depending on experience The Opportunity An established regional accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced tax professional to help lead its growing Capital Region office.
This position offers an established client portfolio, an existing local team and the support and resources of a larger regional organization. The successful candidate will manage important client relationships, oversee tax engagements, develop employees and help shape the office's continued growth. Candidates at the Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager level will be considered. The firm is also open to more senior professionals interested in broader office leadership and a potential path to Principal or Partner. Responsibilities Manage relationships with closely held businesses, business owners and high-net-worth individuals. Oversee federal and state tax compliance, planning and advisory engagements. Review returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations and individuals. Advise clients on tax-planning opportunities and broader business matters. Manage engagement timelines, workflow, budgets and client expectations. Supervise, coach and develop Albany-area employees. Coordinate client work and technical resources across multiple offices. Help transition and strengthen longstanding client relationships. Maintain high standards of technical quality and client service. Support selected accounting, bookkeeping, review and advisory engagements as appropriate. Build relationships within the Capital Region business community. Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and develop new business. Participate in the office's long-term growth and strategic direction. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Active CPA license strongly preferred. Progressive public-accounting experience. Strong tax compliance and planning knowledge. Experience with partnerships, S corporations, C corporations and individual returns. Experience serving closely held or owner-operated businesses. Demonstrated client-relationship management capabilities. Previous staff supervision, coaching or team-leadership experience. Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines. Strong communication skills, professional judgment and executive presence. Ability to work approximately 2-3 days per week in the Latham office. Current Capital Region residency or a genuine willingness to relocate. Preferred Experience Current or previous Manager or Senior Manager title. Experience advising family-owned and closely held businesses. Experience working with high-net-worth individuals. Exposure to reviews, compilations, bookkeeping or accounting engagements. Experience inheriting or transitioning established client relationships. Business-development or community-networking experience. Experience helping grow an office, practice or service line.
