Job Description

Job Overview:
Meredith CPAs is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join our dynamic team in Irving, TX. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of state and local tax compliance, planning, and consulting for our diverse client base. You will leverage your expertise to provide innovative solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and identify opportunities for minimizing tax liabilities while optimizing financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance & Planning:
Oversee and manage state and local tax (SALT) compliance, including income, franchise, sales and use, property, and other state/local tax filings. Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize state and local tax positions for clients.
Consulting & Advisory:
Provide proactive advisory services on state and local tax matters, including nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, and taxability reviews. Assist clients with multi-state tax audits, appeals, and dispute resolution.
Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Review and ensure the accuracy of SALT deliverables prepared by team members.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and timely communication. Act as a key point of contact for clients, addressing complex tax matters and offering strategic guidance.
Regulatory Compliance & Research:
Stay updated on changes in state and local tax laws and regulations, providing insights to clients and team members. Conduct in-depth research on SALT issues and provide recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred). A minimum of 5 years of experience specializing in SALT compliance, planning, and consulting, with managerial experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of multi-state tax rules, nexus issues, and state tax audit procedures. Proficiency with tax preparation software and research tools. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Why Join Meredith CPAs?
