Job Description

Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager - Public to join a CPA firm serving clients in Arlington, Texas. This role is suited for a tax specialist who can lead complex engagements while also advising clients on accounting, compliance, and financial reporting matters. The position offers a blend of tax leadership and hands-on support across business and individual client needs, with a strong focus on accuracy, responsiveness, and trusted client service.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead tax engagements for business and individual clients, overseeing the preparation and review of federal and state filings with particular attention to Texas tax matters.
  • Manage returns for a variety of entity structures, including S corporations, C corporations, and other closely held business organizations.
  • Advise clients on tax strategy, compliance obligations, and technical research issues to support informed financial decisions.
  • Review monthly financial statements, analyze general ledger activity, and help maintain reliable reporting for client accounts.
  • Supervise bookkeeping activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and record maintenance to ensure clean and accurate financial data.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by preparing and reviewing bank reconciliations and resolving accounting discrepancies.
  • Provide oversight and assistance for payroll processing and related filings while addressing ongoing payroll questions from clients.
  • Serve as a primary client contact for tax, accounting, and financial reporting matters, building strong relationships through timely and consultative communication.
  • Guide staff members on technical work and project execution to help ensure deadlines are met and deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Contribute to audit support activities when needed by assisting with documentation, analysis, and client coordination. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA required, or significant progress toward CPA completion with passed exam sections considered.
  • At least 7 years of tax and accounting experience, ideally gained in public accounting or a combination of public and corporate tax environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and review federal and state tax returns for business entities and individual clients.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement preparation, bookkeeping processes, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting.
  • Experience with payroll administration and payroll-related compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Excel, and tax software such as UltraTax or comparable platforms.
  • Strong communication skills and client-facing experience, with the ability to explain tax and accounting matters clearly and professionally.
