Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join a public accounting team in Texas. This role is ideal for a tax specialist who can lead complex compliance engagements, provide thoughtful planning guidance, and serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base. The position offers the opportunity to oversee technical tax matters, strengthen client relationships, and mentor team members while contributing to firm growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and final review of sophisticated federal and state tax filings for corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, high-net-worth individuals, and businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions.
- Oversee tax compliance activities to ensure filings align with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct in-depth tax research, evaluate complex issues, and recommend practical solutions for client-specific matters.
- Manage income tax provision work and support ASC 740-related analysis, documentation, and review.
- Create forward-looking tax strategies that help clients improve efficiency, reduce exposure, and align with broader business goals.
- Advise clients on organizational structure, transaction planning, mergers and acquisitions, and succession-related tax considerations.
- Provide guidance on federal tax matters as well as state-specific issues, including opportunities for savings and approaches to risk reduction.
- Build strong client partnerships, contribute to proposals and networking efforts, and identify additional service opportunities across the firm.
- Supervise tax team members, review workpapers, deliver coaching and performance feedback, and assist with staff development, hiring, and onboarding.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; advanced tax education such as a Master's in Taxation is preferred.
- Active CPA license in Texas or Enrolled Agent designation required.
- At least 7 years of progressive tax experience within public accounting.
- Demonstrated background managing complex tax engagements and leading or supervising team members.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and multi-state taxation, including corporate and individual compliance matters.
- Experience with tax software such as CCH ProSystem fx or CCH Axcess for compliance and review work.
- Advanced tax research, technical writing, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, client management, organization, and project leadership abilities.
