Job Description

Tax ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax compliance, planning and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of clients including high net worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, pass-through entities and corporations. The role combines technical tax expertise across individual, partnership, corporate, fiduciary and international tax matters with team leadership, client management and quality control. The Tax Manager will oversee tax return preparation and review, provide strategic tax planning and research, coordinate with cross-functional teams on M&A, and ensure compliance with evolving federal, state, and international tax laws.

Key ResponsibilitiesManage and review federal, state and local tax compliance for individuals (1040), fiduciaries (1041), trusts and estates (706, 709), partnerships (1065), S corporations (1120S) and C corporations (1120).Lead and mentor a team of tax professionalsassign work, review deliverables, provide feedback, and support professional development for staff and senior tax personnel.

Provide high-level tax planning and structuring for high net worth individuals (HNW/HNWI), families, trusts, estates, and closely-held businesses, including gift, estate and fiduciary planning and reporting.

Perform complex tax research and analysis on federal, state & local (SALT), international tax, transfer pricing, nexus and apportionment, and multistate issues; document conclusions and present recommendations to clients and partners.

Support M&A tax due diligence, post-transaction structuring, purchase price allocations, and tax provision (ASC 740) analyses in collaboration with transaction teams and external advisors.

Coordinate and manage tax controversy and audit support, respond to notices, prepare workpapers, and represent clients in discussions with tax authorities when appropriate.

Oversee preparation and review of specialized filings and compliance (FATCA/CRS/FBAR), payroll and withholding tax issues, indirect taxes (sales & use, VAT/GST), and elective filings as required.

Leverage tax technology and tools to increase efficiency and accuracyuse ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, ProSystem fx Tax, Thomson Reuters UltraTax, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle); support integration and workflow improvements.

Utilize advanced Excel (VBA), Alteryx/Power Query, SQL and other data tools to automate processes, analyze tax data, and produce client deliverables and management reports.

Drive quality control, risk management and best practices for tax engagements; ensure workpapers, checklists and peer reviews meet firm standards.

Collaborate with accounting, financial planning and wealth management teams to align tax strategies with clients financial goals and
GAAP/IFRS
tax accounting requirements.

Participate in business development, client service meetings, proposals, and thought leadership; maintain and build strong client relationships with HNW individuals and institutional clients.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field required; Masters (LLM in Tax) or JD desirable.

CPA required or Enrolled Agent (EA) with equivalent experience; active licensure in good standing.7+ years of progressive tax experience, with a minimum of 34 years in public accounting or professional services; experience managing teams and complex engagements.

Demonstrated experience with individual, partnership, S-Corp, C-Corp, trust and estate taxation and return preparation (1040, 1120S, 1120, 1065, 1041, 709, 706).Strong knowledge of federal tax law, state tax law, multistate issues, SALT, international tax, transfer pricing concepts, and tax provision (ASC 740) accounting.

Experience with M&A tax, tax due diligence, tax planning & structuring and tax controversy/audit support.

Proficient with tax technology and software: ONESOURCE, CCH, Vertex, CorpTax, ProSystem fx Tax, Thomson Reuters UltraTax and ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle.

Advanced Excel skills including VBA, and experience with data tools (Alteryx, Power Query) and SQL for data extraction and analysis.

Experience advising high net worth individuals (HNW/HNWI), family offices, trusts and fiduciaries; strong client-facing and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements, set priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality, reviewed tax workpapers and deliverables.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and tax research skills; familiarity with
BEPS/OECD
guidelines and treaty analysis a plus.

High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality control and risk management.

Ability to travel as needed for client meetings and business development.
