As a Senior Tax Manager, you will lead key client relationships within Wipfli's Construction Practice, delivering strategic tax and business advisory services while helping drive practice growth. This role combines deep technical expertise, leadership, and business development to create meaningful impact for clients, team members, and the firm.
Responsibilities Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted advisor to construction clients, providing strategic tax planning, consulting, and business advisory services. Lead complex tax engagements for contractors, developers, and related entities, including multi-state compliance, long-term contract accounting, and entity structuring. Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities and provide guidance on emerging tax legislation and industry trends. Manage and expand key client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and long-term partnership. Drive business development efforts by identifying growth opportunities, participating in industry networking, and supporting proposal and prospect activities. Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' business and tax needs. Provide oversight of engagement quality, risk management, profitability, and timely delivery. Mentor and develop managers, seniors, and staff while fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture. Contribute to practice growth initiatives, talent development, and the overall success of Wipfli's Construction Practice.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA required. 10+ years of public accounting tax experience, including significant experience serving construction industry clients. Strong technical expertise in construction accounting, pass-through taxation, long-term contract accounting, and multi-state taxation. Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and serve as a strategic advisor to business owners and executives. Demonstrated success developing talent, leading teams, and driving client and practice growth. Strong communication, leadership, and business development skills.
