Full Job Description Summary:
Responsible for reviewing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns; developing and supervising Staff, preparing more complex tax returns, and managing client relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and review tax returns prepared by Staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities. Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations. Lead, manage and complete entire Tax and Consulting engagements (planning, executing, directing, delegating tasks, and completing tax projects). Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, identify, and resolve tax-related problems, and make recommendation for business and process improvements. Assist Partners on proposals and business development calls; actively promotes expanding services; continually improving client relationships. Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax issues. Must be able to complete research projects in order to reach a technical conclusion. Monitor and respond to tax authority communications; assist clients with tax audits and other needs. Uses the appropriate accounting software or system to prepare tax returns. Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law and regulations by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses. Participation in civic and/or networking events. Determines own personal career path; Facilitates staff & team development. Supervise, train and mentor entry level Staff on tax projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Detail oriented & ability to multi-task. Strong accounting, analytical and organizational skills. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated software. Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills. Be able to work with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, required. 3-4 years' experience in public accounting tax experience, preferred. Experience preparing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands and Work Environment:
This job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time, working on a computer. Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally. Some travel may be required.
Work Schedule:
Typically, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Additional hours are required during peak season.
