Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to support a busy firm during the tax extension season in Pasadena, California. This is an onsite Contract position focused on preparing accurate filings for individuals and small businesses while helping the team meet critical deadlines. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Lacerte and can manage client information with professionalism, accuracy, and discretion.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine federal and state tax returns for individual filers and small business entities, including corporations, S corporations, and partnerships, using Lacerte Tax Software.
- Collect, organize, and assess financial records and tax documents to ensure complete and accurate return preparation.
- Follow up with clients to obtain missing information, resolve inconsistencies, and answer questions related to tax documentation.
- Review completed filings for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to current tax rules before submission.
- Safeguard sensitive financial data while maintaining compliance with firm standards and applicable regulations.
- Partner with fellow tax professionals and firm leadership to manage workload effectively and deliver returns within required timelines. Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent experience preparing tax returns for individuals and/or small business clients.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Lacerte Tax Software.
- Practical knowledge of individual returns and business filings such as 1120, 1120S, and 1065.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accuracy.
- Effective organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team setting.
