Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a Tax Administrator to support our tax team with administrative and processing functions related to tax return preparation and client deliverables. This role is critical to keeping our tax workflow organized, accurate, and on schedule. The Tax Administrator does not prepare tax returns, but instead supports tax professionals by managing documents, tracking deadlines, processing returns, and handling administrative tasks throughout the tax season and year. Key Responsibilities Assemble, organize, and maintain electronic tax files and workpapers Track return status and ensure jobs move through workflow stages properly Assist with processing tax returns after preparation, including: E‑file assembly and submission Extension processing Amended return processing Coordinate client deliverables (e‑filing authorizations, organizers, completed returns) Manage tax software administrative tasks under direction of tax staff Upload, download, rename, and archive documents in document management systems Assist with IRS and state correspondence processing (logging notices, routing to staff) Maintain tax calendars and help track deadlines Communicate professionally with clients Support tax staff during busy season with general administrative needs Qualifications Prior experience in an accounting, tax, or professional services office preferred Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines during busy season Comfortable handling confidential information Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PDF software Experience with document management systems or tax software a plus Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred (Not Required) Experience working in a CPA or tax firm Familiarity with tax season workflow and filing deadlines Experience with tools such as CCH Axcess, SafeSend, or similar systems Work Environment Public accounting firm environment Seasonal increase in workload during tax season Collaborative team setting with direct support of tax professionals
Pay:
