Job Description
H&R Block seeks an experienced Tax Professional to deliver accurate, compliant tax preparation and outstanding client service. In this role, you will prepare individual and small business federal and state returns, conduct thorough tax interviews, and research complex tax issues using H&R Block tools and training. You will explain results clearly, identify legitimate deductions and credits, and help clients plan for future tax years. Working in a client-focused, team-oriented environment, you'll receive ongoing training in tax law and compliance, opportunities for seasonal or full-time roles, and a pathway to deepen your expertise in tax and financial services while making a direct impact on individuals and small businesses. Responsibilities Prepare accurate individual and small business federal and state tax returns using H&R Block systems Conduct tax interviews to gather client financial data and determine appropriate tax treatments Research complex tax issues and apply current IRS and state regulations to client situations Review returns for accuracy, compliance, and completeness before final client sign-off Advise clients on deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities within regulatory guidelines Maintain detailed and confidential client records in accordance with firm and legal standards Provide excellent client service, explaining tax results and next steps in clear, accessible language Collaborate with office team during peak season to manage workflow and meet deadlines Participate in required H&R Block training, certifications, and ongoing tax law updates Identify opportunities to refer clients to additional H&R Block financial services when appropriate Required Skills Individual income tax preparation Small business tax preparation (Schedule C, etc.) Tax research and compliance Tax preparation software (H&R Block or similar) IRS and state tax regulations knowledge Financial data analysis and documentation Client interviewing and needs assessment Electronic filing and documentation systems Microsoft Excel and basic accounting tools Written and verbal client communication
