Job Description

Some people work in tax because it's their job. Others genuinely enjoy figuring it out. They like solving problems. Learning something new. Helping a client understand a complicated situation. And walking away knowing the work was done properly. If that sounds familiar, keep reading. This Sarasota CPA firm has spent more than 50 years building a reputation for exactly that kind of work. No shortcuts. No unnecessary complexity. Just experienced accountants helping clients make good decisions and building relationships that often last for decades. Why accountants enjoy working here $75,000 - $80,000 salary Established CPA firm with more than 50 years of history Flexible working environment Direct access to experienced Managers and Partners Broad exposure across individual and business taxation Supportive team with strong mentoring Long-term career progression as your experience grows The opportunity This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being a well-rounded tax professional rather than being pushed into one narrow area of expertise. You'll work across a broad mix of engagements, including: Individual tax returns S Corporations Partnerships C Corporations Trusts and Estates The variety of clients means every week brings something different. You'll continue building your technical knowledge while gaining exposure to a wide range of industries and tax situations. Bookkeeping experience would certainly be useful, but tax preparation is where your time will primarily be spent. As your confidence grows, you'll have the opportunity to become more involved with clients, take ownership of more complex work and continue developing your career within the firm. What makes this firm different The Partners aren't looking for someone who simply completes tax returns. They're looking for someone who's curious. Someone who asks questions. Someone who wants to understand the "why" behind the numbers—not just the process of preparing them. If you're the sort of accountant who enjoys learning and takes real pride in producing quality work, you'll fit in well here. Who this role suits You'll probably have around three years or more of public accounting tax experience. Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns is important, particularly with S Corporations and Partnerships. Bookkeeping experience would be beneficial. Experience with Thomson Reuters software and strong Excel skills would also be an advantage. Most importantly, you're someone who takes ownership of your work, enjoys helping clients and wants to keep improving. The honest bit If you're looking for a huge corporate structure, layers of management or a highly specialised role, this probably isn't the right fit. If, however, you'd rather work somewhere people know your name, your contribution is recognised and every year gives you the chance to become a better accountant, this is well worth exploring.
