Job Description

We are looking for a Contract Tax Preparer to support a busy tax team in Boston, Massachusetts during a high-volume filing period. This role is ideal for someone who brings experience from a tax-focused environment and can balance administrative coordination with accurate return processing. The position works fully onsite and plays an important part in keeping filings, client records, and tax communications organized and on schedule.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage filing calendars and status trackers for multiple return types, ensuring tax work moves forward accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate signature collection for completed returns, follow up with the appropriate parties, and prepare documents for timely submission to tax authorities.
  • Process tax filings across applicable jurisdictions and distribute related tax documents to clients, beneficiaries, and outside accountants as needed.
  • Maintain organized records for new and existing clients, including setting up files and keeping documentation current throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Reconcile and monitor quarterly estimated tax payments, using spreadsheets to track amounts, deadlines, and submissions.
  • Prepare, format, and proof routine tax correspondence and engagement materials for the department.
  • Receive, scan, and route incoming mail such as notices, payments, and refund checks, ensuring prompt handling and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Print, assemble, and prepare finalized tax returns for delivery while supporting multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
