Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer & Accounting Specialist who enjoys solving problems, working with clients, and producing accurate, high-quality work. This position offers a diverse workload throughout the year, including bookkeeping, accounting, financial reporting, QuickBooks support, and individual income tax preparation. This is an on-site position located in Mineral Ridge, Ohio. ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping (Year-Round) Maintain accurate financial records for multiple business clients. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations. Record and categorize financial transactions. Enter payroll journal entries and adjusting journal entries. Review and clean up QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop files. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Assist with sales tax, CAT tax, and other state filings. Troubleshoot QuickBooks Online and Desktop issues. Research accounting issues to ensure accurate reporting. Review bookkeeping work for accuracy and completeness. Maintain organized electronic client files and supporting documentation. Communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, vendors, and government agencies. Manage multiple client deadlines while maintaining accuracy. Assist with special accounting projects as assigned. Tax Preparation (Tax Season & Extension Season) Prepare individual income tax returns accurately and efficiently. Organize and review client tax documents for completeness. Enter tax information into tax preparation software. Identify applicable deductions and tax credits. Review completed tax returns for accuracy and completeness. Research tax law and tax issues when necessary. Prepare tax returns during tax season and extension season. Assist with IRS and state tax notices as assigned. Maintain organized tax files and supporting documentation. Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws. Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping, accounting, or public accounting experience. Experience preparing individual income tax returns required. Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop . Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Certified Bookkeeper credential, or equivalent work experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality. Training & Professional Growth Every accounting firm has its own systems, software, and client service standards. During your 60-day introductory training period , you'll learn our workflow, office procedures, and quality expectations while working alongside our team. We invest significant time in training new employees because we are committed to building a strong, long-term team. As your knowledge and experience grow, you'll have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, including more advanced accounting projects and increased client interaction. Compensation will be reviewed upon successful completion of the introductory training period. Wage increases are based on demonstrated performance, dependability, initiative, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work independently. Work Schedule This position follows the seasonal nature of public accounting. Part-time schedule outside of tax season. Full-time schedule during tax season (January through April), including Saturdays. Additional hours are typically available during extension season and other peak workload periods. Flexible scheduling is available outside of peak workload periods based on business needs.
Compensation Starting Pay:
$18.00 per hour Following successful completion of the 60-day introductory training period , employees who demonstrate strong performance may be eligible for an increase of up to $22.50 per hour , based on performance, accuracy, dependability, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
