Role Overview We're looking for a Junior Accountant or Enrolled Agent (EA) with ~2 years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and accounting. This role is focused on execution, accuracy, and workflow discipline — not guessing, not firefighting. You'll work inside proven systems and help ensure everything moves on time, every time. Key Responsibilities Tax Preparation Prepare personal and business tax returns Review and validate client financial data Apply deductions and credits accurately Ensure compliance with U.S. tax regulations Maintain complete, review-ready files Workflow & Process Execution Ensure tasks follow internal timelines and IRS deadlines are respected Monitor files and proactively flag risks or bottlenecks Follow established workflows (no building your own system) Contribute to improving processes where needed Bookkeeping (Limited / Client-Based) Perform or review bookkeeping for select clients Work within QuickBooks Ensure clean data aligned with tax prep requirements Client & Team Collaboration Communicate with clients to request and clarify information Ask the right questions to fully understand situations Collaborate with a team of 4 (you'll be the 5th) Escalate issues early — no surprises Qualifications Required ~2 years of experience in tax preparation and accounting Experience with U.S. personal and business tax returns Strong accountability and ownership mindset Excellent attention to detail Ability to follow structured processes consistently Preferred Enrolled Agent (EA) or accounting degree (or in progress) Experience in a tax/accounting firm Experience with QuickBooks Comfortable working with clients directly Work Structure 1 day/week in-office, otherwise remote work Flexible scheduling Increased hours during peak periods What Success Looks Like Returns are accurate and submitted on time Workflows move without delays Issues are caught early Team members don't need to check your work You take full ownership of your files Why Join Shoebox Clear systems → less stress, more execution Small team → high impact Growth → earn more responsibility over time Culture → serious about work, not about ourselves Benefits Our benefit offerings can help associates plan for their unique health, well-being, and financial wellness needs: Flexible/remote opportunities that meet your life, collaborative teams and much more!
