Job Description
Independent Tax Preparer (1099 Contractor) The Independent Tax Preparer is responsible for managing the full cycle of tax preparation with minimal supervision, ensuring accurate and timely filing for individuals, small businesses, and corporations. This is a 1099 independent contractor position that is commission-based , requiring preparers to generate and service their own client base. Training and support will be provided to help ensure success. Compensation 100% Commission-Based Contractors are responsible for sourcing and maintaining their own clients. Earnings are based on the volume and complexity of tax returns prepared. Training & Support Initial training and onboarding will be provided. Ongoing support and guidance are available from the Tax Manager as needed. Access to tax preparation software and company procedures will be provided. Responsibilities Review financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Prepare and file individual (Form 1040), multi-state, small business, and corporate tax returns. Enter data accurately into tax preparation and accounting software. Communicate professionally with clients regarding tax matters and document requirements. Maintain compliance with IRS regulations and ethical standards. Provide assistance during audits as required. Manage client relationships and ensure a positive customer experience. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number). Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. Strong organizational and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years of tax preparation experience. Proficiency with tax software such as TurboTax, TaxAct, Drake, or similar platforms. Knowledge of IRS regulations and tax laws. Strong attention to detail. Effective time management and problem-solving skills. Ability to build and maintain a client base.
