Seasonal Tax Preparer Reviewer (PT/FT)

Job Summary We are a locally rooted public accounting firm serving individuals and closely held businesses with a mix of tax, accounting, and advisory services. With a team of fewer than 25 professionals, we offer a collaborative environment where you can work directly with clients, build technical depth across engagements, and grow into a long-term leadership role. We're seeking an experienced seasonal tax professional to help prepare and review tax returns during our busiest times. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys focused tax work, works efficiently with clear processes, and is comfortable jumping in to meet firm deadlines.

Hours:

20-30 hours/week during busy seasons, more hours could be available if desired.

Busy seasons:

February 1 - April 15 and July 7 - October 15

Office Location:

Wilmington, NC (Open to fully remote individual if willing to come to Wilmington for brief trainings at the start of each season) What you'll do Prepare and/or review federal and state income tax returns (individual and business, based on your experience). Organize and update workpapers; request missing information and track open items. Identify common issues and follow firm review notes and documentation standards. Communicate status and questions promptly to keep returns moving to completion. What we're looking for Prior experience preparing and/or reviewing tax returns in a public accounting or tax practice setting. Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. CPA or EA preferred but not required (retirees welcome!) Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS experience is a plus.

Pay:

$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
