Seasonal Full-Time with Flexible Off-Season Schedule About Us We are a growing accounting and tax firm dedicated to providing exceptional tax preparation, accounting, and advisory services to individuals and businesses. We pride ourselves on delivering personalized service, accuracy, and trusted financial guidance while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team. This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, working approximately 8-16 hours per week during the off-season to assist with tax planning, amended returns, extensions, and client support. During tax season (January through April), the position transitions into a full-time role of approximately 50 hours per week supporting our growing client base. Responsibilities- Prepare individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and S-Corporation tax returns.
- Review client financial records and tax documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate directly with clients to request information and answer tax-related questions.
- Prepare amended tax returns and assist with tax planning throughout the year.
- Assist with tax projections and estimated tax calculations.
- Research tax issues and apply current federal and state tax laws.
- Maintain organized electronic client files and documentation.
- Work closely with partners and administrative staff to ensure deadlines are met.
- Support IRS and state tax notice responses as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of client financial information. Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional tax preparation experience in a CPA or accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of federal and Massachusetts tax regulations.
- Experience preparing Individual (1040), Partnership (1065), Corporate (1120), S-Corporation (1120S), and Trust (1041) returns.
- Experience with Drake Tax and TaxDome preferred; experience with other professional tax software will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional communication and client service skills.
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
- Familiarity with payroll tax, sales tax, estimated tax payments, and tax notice resolution preferred.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience. ($20.00 HR - $30.00/HR)
