Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Tax Preparer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accurate financial records, performing comprehensive bookkeeping tasks, and preparing tax returns for a diverse client base. Your expertise will ensure compliance with accounting standards and support our clients' financial health. Responsibilities Maintain and update financial records using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken. Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger reconciliations to ensure data accuracy. Prepare detailed journal entries, including debits & credits, to reflect all financial transactions accurately. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently to optimize cash flow. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and analyze account activity for discrepancies or errors. Compile financial reports, including income statements and balance sheets, to support tax preparation and financial analysis. Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, non-profit organizations, and governmental entities while adhering to current tax laws and regulations. Support clients during audits by providing organized documentation and explanations of financial data. Collaborate with team members on budgeting efforts and technical accounting projects to improve financial processes. Requirements Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting principles. Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and non-profit accounting is a plus. Ability to perform bank reconciliations, account analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation tasks efficiently. Experience with tax preparation for various entity types including corporate and non-profit organizations. Excellent understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial report writing. Proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry accuracy along with strong attention to detail. Knowledge of payroll processing procedures and governmental tax regulations related to payroll taxes. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
