Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Know and perform all duties of a Teller.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of Teller operations and customer service relations on the teller line.
  • Guide and advise Tellers in the handling of customer needs, maintaining proper currency requirements, and operating a Teller station, as needed.
  • Maintains highest level of confidentiality related to bank, customer, director, and employee information.
  • Responsible for helping with balancing efficient staffing levels and work schedules for the Tellers throughout the workday.
  • May represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment (CRA) functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Accountable For:
Staff Development:
Supervise, organize, cross-train and evaluate Tellers to increase their productivity and effectiveness. Assist Tellers with product knowledge and referral techniques. Maintain a positive working environment and assist in delivering efficient, consistent, and courteous service. Must be able to anticipate hiring needs. Operations Maintain and control office vault and contents. Manage levels of office cash and negotiable instruments. Assist tellers, approve large transactions, verify accuracy of data and make sure cash in teller drawers are kept to the required level. Understand the procedure of customers entering the Safe Deposit area. Assist customers in opening new accounts and follow up with the maintenance. Manage and facilitate branch maintenance.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Head Teller is responsible for supervising all Teller employees within the office. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer a minimum of 5 years experience working in a financial institution and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Must have a thorough knowledge of the Teller position, computer terminals, overall branch operations, and basic banking procedures; ability to deal with customers and fellow employees with courtesy and tact: maturity, flexibility, and strong communication skills. Should have the ability to mentor and coach Tellers. Should be organized and able to work within a small group.
Language Skills :
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and correspondence and share this information accordingly with the Tellers. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees within the Bank.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized and non-standardized situations. Ability to use sound judgment utilizing bank procedures and policies when making decisions.
Other Skills & Abilities :
Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: telephone, teller terminal, personal computer and printer, copy machine, check scanner, TCR, coin machine, currency counter. Strong Microsoft Office skills desired. Positive attitude, strong worth ethic, and commitment to Bank's Statement of Purpose and Core Values a must.
Key Contacts :
Has daily contact with Tellers, Lenders, and other Bank departments regarding customer transactions or Bank services. Has contact with Bank customers regarding transactions and other inquiries.
