POSITION PURPOSE
The Member Services Representative is responsible for performing a wide range of transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with high accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records. Provide a variety of member savings, share draft/checking, and credit account transactions, as well as member services such as sales of money orders and traveler's checks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and welcome members to the credit union and represent the credit union to Members in a courteous and professional manner and provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service in the processing of transactions. Provide in‐person and by‐telephone general and specific service‐related information concerning credit union products or policies. May respond to Member emails/electronic requests, providing professional, prompt, efficient, and accurate service, and information. Respond to Member requests, problems, and complaints, resolving issues, and/or directing them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance. May handle more complex questions and problems for other Member Service Tellers. Maintain up‐to‐date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules, and regulations. Provide comprehensive, prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions. Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and accurately enter deposits into computer records. Process withdrawals from accounts and/or share draft/check cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawals into system accurately. Cash share drafts/checks from a variety of accounts upon proper verification according to credit union policies and procedures. Assist with mail or email transactions, when available. Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds. Balance cash drawer at end of the shift and compare totaled amount to computer-generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary. May help other tellers research and resolve discrepancies. Ensure that the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, brochures, etc. Maintain current and comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Provide consultative service to Members regarding credit union products and services by assessing the Member's needs and concerns. Maintain current knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures. Comply with regulatory compliance and assigned training requirements including but not limited to BSA, and OFAC Properly fill out Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports. Assist Members with wire requests. Initiate or approve outgoing wires using TranZact. Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into the computer. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the teller station to supervisor. Support various streamlining and continuous improvement projects, as directed by EVP and Branch Manager. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the credit union. Job location is at our Pasadena branch but may be required to work at our Commerce branch from time to time.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
Minimum of high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of 1 year experience working in a financial institution, preferably in a credit union Support or Member Services function. Strong aptitude for working with numbers, problem solving skills, and must be detail oriented, able to comply with strict deadlines. Excellent written and spoken English required. Understanding of financial terms, good comprehension of mathematics. Requires the ability to interact and communicate with Employees and Members, courteously and professionally, both in writing and verbally, to resolve matters effectively with good outcomes. Proven flexibility and dependability, with the ability to multi-task and work independently. This position requires strong computer skills - computer proficiency is required on Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Our core processor system is on CU•Base so experience in this software is a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. At times, personnel coverage may be needed at other branch locations. Travel may be necessary.
