Teller (full-time) on site - Salem, MA We are seeking a Full-Time Teller for our Salem location. (370 Highland Ave, Salem)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES
Minimum 1 year of bank teller experience, preferred Bi-lingual, Spanish/English favorable, not required. Please submit your resume in English. SUMMARY Tellers perform a wide range of transactional duties to serve the membership by receiving or paying out functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, payments, cashier's checks, money orders, travelers checks and cash advances. Balance each day's transactions and verify cash totals with a high degree of accuracy. Perform specific assigned tasks and assist other tellers with a variety of duties as required. Execute all duties in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Embrace and recognize the importance of the credit union Values Statement without exception.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma. 1 year banking and cash handling experience, preferred.
WORK STATUS/SCHEDULE
Full-time, 40 hours per week. As scheduled Saturday hours 8:00am-1:00pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of Teller functions. Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional timely manner, providing prompt, accurate and efficient member transactions. Receives share drafts/checks and cash for deposits to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer. Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out funds after verification of signatures, member balances and call to verify checks payable to non-members. Perform OFAC as needed. Receive mortgage, consumer loan and other payments and ensure the payments match balances due. Process credit card payments on Elan and on Episys. Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts and examine documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolve discrepancies promptly. Maintain an up to date and comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up to date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures. Promote, explain, and offer other credit union services such as consumer loans and mortgage products, savings products, debit cards, online banking, E-statements. Place proper holds on accounts for uncollected funds. Inform members of check hold/availability policy and fill out extended hold slips when necessary. Balance cash drawer at end of shift. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the senior manager on duty. Prove, film and upload checks, proving money orders and bank checks. Assist in proving branch totals at the end of day. Retrieve and fax signature cards as needed. Handles signature cards, scan and file. Answer phones, process mail, check emails daily. Order checks for members. Capture/order ATM/Debit cards. Report malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used in the teller area. Utilize translation skills if applicable All duties as requested by management. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with members. Ensures that members requests and questions are promptly resolved. Operates online teller terminal. Provide information as members may authorize concerning their account status. Receives and processes new member accounts as directed by Member Services. Ensures that all members are informed of Credit Union services and policies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services and information. Maintains privacy of member account information. Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and working relationships with area personnel and with management. Assists area personnel as required. Cross train/perform member service duties when applicable. Keeps manager / supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns. Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly. Attends meetings as required. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Cross-sells credit union products and services. Ensures that work area is clean, well maintained, and secure and stocked with proper forms and supplies. Perform clerical duties as required.
