Direct hire Lead financial performance where it matters most. Automation Personnel Services is recruiting a Controller for a respected company in Elkmont, Alabama. This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play a key role in plant performance by leading accurate financial reporting, strengthening cost controls, and helping plant leadership make informed business decisions. In this role, your work will have a direct impact on operational efficiency, product costs, budgeting, capital planning, and long-term financial performance. You will bring financial insight to a hands-on plant environment where thoughtful analysis, sound judgment, and continuous improvement are valued. What you'll do- Direct, review, and validate plant accounting activities, including labor distribution, inventory, general receipts, scrap, rework, accounts payable, closed-order variances, fixed-asset transactions, and journal entries.
- Complete and oversee monthly balance-sheet reconciliations to support accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Analyze monthly plant financial results and translate findings into practical recommendations.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities across products and operations.
- Review and approve capital-expenditure requests, validating assumptions and helping ensure accountability for expected results.
- Plan and develop annual plant operating budgets based on plant capabilities and cost, service, and quality objectives.
- Establish product-cost standards through the annual cost roll process.
- Identify products or product groups that need improvement and focus plant management on opportunities to improve performance.
- Partner with plant leaders to challenge current practices constructively and support data-driven decision-making. What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- MBA preferred.
- Five or more years of practical accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Strong analytical, auditing, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to ask thoughtful questions, challenge existing processes, and recommend improvements.
- Sound judgment, initiative, leadership ability, and a commitment to innovative management practices. What you can expect
