Job Description
Financial Controller - Clear Track to CFO
Our client, a fast-growing restoration and construction services company in the Birmingham area, is bringing on their first true Controller. This is a rare chance to build the financial backbone of a company scaling quickly, clean up the books, sharpen job costing, and create the reporting infrastructure leadership needs to make smart decisions. For someone who wants to grow into a CFO role rather than just hold a title, this is a real shot at it.

Ownership of the accounting function from day one, not inherited chaos
Flexible core hours (8-5 with some give)
Build dashboards, KPIs, and reporting systems from scratch, your fingerprints on everything Compensation $90,000 - $120,000+ What You'll Be Doing Own P&L management, including revenue, margins, and profitability analysis
Lead month-end and year-end close
Manage AR, AP, and a small team executing those processes
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
Build financial dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs from the ground up
Track and analyze job-level profitability across restoration projects
Establish stronger financial controls and scalable accounting processes What You'll Need to be Considered Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Advanced Excel proficiency
Background in construction, restoration, or home services
Job costing or project-level financial tracking experience
Strong QuickBooks or equivalent ERP experience
Team leadership or supervisory experience
