Job Description

Controller - Gulf South Asphalt Gulf South Asphalt is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the financial operations of our growing asphalt and construction company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing reporting processes, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review weekly, monthly, and year-end financial reconciliations and reports. Oversee job costing and project profitability reporting. Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and general ledger activity. Verify insurance coverage, certificates of insurance (COIs), and subcontractor compliance requirements. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and insurance providers as needed. Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies. Support payroll, tax filings, and other administrative accounting functions. Provide management with timely and accurate financial information to support business decisions. Perform other administrative and office administration duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 5+ years of accounting, finance, or controller experience, preferably in construction, asphalt, paving, or related industries. Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting principles. Experience with QuickBooks is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
