Job Description

Publication Date:
October 12, 2026 Automotive Controller jobs Arizona are open now at Flagstaff Chevrolet, 1118 W Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. The Controller position is listed on AUTOjobs.com, the automotive only job board serving the United States since 1995. Flagstaff Chevrolet needs a detail-oriented Controller to run the business office and keep ownership and dealership management informed with accurate numbers, tight expense control, and a clear read on performance. What does a dealership Controller do at Flagstaff Chevrolet? The Controller prepares, reviews, and finalizes monthly dealership financial statements to manufacturer and company standards and runs month end and year end closes on schedule. The role oversees the general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, confirms every transaction is recorded, classified, and reported correctly, and reviews statements for discrepancies, unusual expenses, and ways to increase profit. Results are reviewed with ownership and management with useful analysis. How does the Controller control spending? The Controller tracks operating expenses across sales, service, parts, and administration, and checks that expenses are accurate, authorized, and within budget and policy. The role finds waste and cost saving opportunities, oversees payables, receivables, vendor payments, and open balances, and maintains internal controls that protect company assets and limit financial risk. How does the Controller keep the business office running? The Controller supervises business office staff, supports their accounting work, and sets procedures, accountability, and deadlines for each office function. Daily duties include cash, bank deposits, bank reconciliations, and cash flow reporting, along with contracts in transit, vehicle receivables, inventory accounting, floorplan balances, and other dealership accounts. The Controller keeps vehicle transactions, deal accounting, funding, and paperwork on time, reconciles manufacturer receivables, incentive payments, and warranty receivables, and stays current with tax, regulatory, and dealership accounting requirements. Who does the Controller support? The Controller is the finance resource for leadership, supporting the General Manager, Managing Partner, and department managers. The role catches accounting problems early, fixes them before they grow, works with outside accountants, auditors, tax professionals, lenders, and manufacturer representatives as needed, and keeps accounting practices and financial reporting consistent across dealership locations. Do you need automotive experience to apply? Automotive experience is ideal but not required. Candidates need one of the following: automotive dealership accounting experience, an accounting or finance degree, or CPA certification. The dealership expects a solid command of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and expense management, strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills, and the ability to hit deadlines and stay accurate while juggling multiple responsibilities. Supervising people and holding them accountable is part of the job, as are professionalism, integrity, and discretion with confidential information. The dealership teaches the dealership side to candidates who bring the accounting background. What benefits come with the job? Benefits include a 401(k), 401(k) matching, health insurance, and paid time off. Who is this opportunity for?
