Onsite - Anaheim, CA Company Overview A privately held, middle-market manufacturing and distribution company with operations on the West Coast and Southeast is seeking a Controller to join its senior leadership team. The business has been family-run for multiple generations and is known for its stable growth, long employee tenure, and strong profitability. With multiple production facilities and a lean but capable team, the organization emphasizes independence, hands-on leadership, and accountability. The company's headquarters—also its largest site—is based in Orange County, where the Controller will be primarily based. Additional locations include two smaller manufacturing sites across the U.S. Position Summary This is a roll-up-your-sleeves leadership role ideal for someone who thrives in a no-frills, entrepreneurial setting. The Controller will oversee all accounting operations at HQ and provide oversight to finance leads at other locations. This individual will be responsible for managing the general ledger, internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance, while also supporting related HR and IT processes. The role is fully onsite. Responsibilities Lead all core accounting functions: AR, AP, GL, payroll, inventory, and close Supervise the local accounting team (5 direct reports); provide dotted-line guidance to finance leads at other sites Oversee monthly and year-end close, internal reporting, and external financial statements Ensure accuracy of high-volume transactional processing (~5,000 invoices/month) Maintain and enforce internal controls across multiple entities Analyze product costs and support margin and operational reporting Liaise with internal departments on inventory, product costing, and system integrity Manage accounting systems (Sage 500 or similar ERP), Excel models, and related access and reporting Support HR and payroll processes (HR rolls into this role operationally) Coordinate audits, sales tax, and banking requirements Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 15+ years of accounting experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role Strong background in manufacturing or distribution environments Experience with physical inventory, intercompany activity, and cost tracking Proficient in ERP systems (Sage 500 or similar) and Excel Hands-on, practical mindset with the ability to operate independently and lead by example Comfortable in a lean, family-owned, and highly entrepreneurial setting
