Job Description

Our client in Berkeley is seeking an interim Controller to support a business-process improvement initiative. In this 6-9 month engagement, you will work together with the CFO to shorten the monthly close cycle, improve and document processes and procedures, and teach the team to better utilize NetSuite. This engagement offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful initiatives while ensuring financial stability and compliance. Ideally you can spend 2-4 days onsite in Berkeley. Hourly pay is expected to be between $90-$100/hr.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise accounts payable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Perform reconciliations and maintain financial records in alignment with organizational policies
  • Conduct detailed analysis within NetSuite to optimize system functionalities and reporting
  • Manage monthly financial close processes and prepare comprehensive reports
  • Oversee cash management activities, ensuring effective allocation and liquidity
  • Coordinate and prepare for audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Implement and refine fund accounting practices tailored to the non-profit sector
  • Develop program budgets and forecasts to support organizational planning
  • Monitor grant accounting processes and ensure proper allocation of funds
  • Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
