The Law Offices of Eric Alan Berg & Associates is a respected Northern California law firm specializing in criminal defense and family law, with offices in Chico and Redding. We are looking for an experienced Accountant/Controller to manage our financial operations and ensure compliance in a trust-account-heavy legal environment. Job Description /
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and trust/IOLTA account management. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports, and reconciliations. Manage payroll, expense reporting, and budgeting. Ensure compliance with GAAP, California State Bar rules for client trust accounts, and all relevant regulations. Handle financial forecasting, cash flow management, and tax preparation support. Work closely with attorneys and firm leadership on financial planning and profitability analysis. Maintain accurate records and support audits as needed. Implement and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1-3+ years of accounting experience, with prior law firm or professional services experience highly desirable. Strong knowledge of trust accounting, IOLTA rules, and legal billing practices. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Clio, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
Pay:
$22.00 - $31.00 per hour
