Job Description

Position Overview Hanley Investment Group is seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Financial Controller / Accountant to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing commercial real estate brokerage firm. This is a hands-on role ideal for a self-starter who is comfortable operating independently and managing all accounting and financial functions for the company. The Financial Controller / Accountant will work closely with the owner in the San Diego office and will also take an active role in managing accounting, financial tracking, and reporting related to the owner's personal real estate investments and property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial real estate accounting experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Manage all day-to-day accounting operations for the company Handle full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable Process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions Perform monthly bank reconciliations Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and reporting packages Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow analysis and forecasting Process payroll and coordinate payroll administration through Paycom Administer the company's 401(k) plan and coordinate with the Third-Party Administrator (TPA) Prepare and file annual 1099 forms Work directly with the company's CPA to provide documentation and support for tax return preparation Manage accounting, financial tracking, and reporting for the owner's personal real estate investments and property portfolio Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with accounting best practices Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls 8-10 years of accounting experience within a real estate company, preferably commercial real estate Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting Proficiency with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Paycom is required Experience handling accounting operations independently Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion Strong communication and interpersonal skills Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Preferred Attributes Experience supporting ownership/executive leadership directly Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently Proactive problem solver with a hands-on approach
Compensation & Work Environment Salary:
$120,000 per year Full-time onsite position in San Diego, CA Opportunity to work directly with ownership in a dynamic commercial real estate environment Comprehensive benefits package including medical, chiropractic, dental, and 401(k); vision coverage available as an elective
