Responsibilities:
Lead financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in support of company growth and profitability. Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, and construction job costing. Analyze project financial performance, including budget-to-actual results, committed costs, cost-to-complete projections, earned revenue, and projected margins. Oversee WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting, identifying potential cost overruns and margin erosion. Partner with project and operations leaders to improve forecasting, job-cost accuracy, billing, collections, change orders, retainage, and overall project profitability. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and provide financial statements, KPIs, dashboards, and variance analysis to executive leadership. Develop company-wide forecasts, rolling projections, and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making. Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital management, liquidity, collections, payables, and banking relationships. Establish and maintain effective financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting standards. Provide financial guidance on major projects, capital expenditures, hiring plans, and other business initiatives. Support the organization's employee-ownership structure by developing financial processes, reporting, and communication that promote accountability and business understanding. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, insurance providers, bonding partners, and banking institutions. Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements while continuously improving financial processes and controls. Lead, develop, and mentor accounting and finance personnel.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong understanding of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting. Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Experience partnering with project management, estimating, operations, and executive leadership teams. Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting practices. Experience managing and developing accounting and finance professionals. Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities. Experience with construction ERP or accounting systems preferred. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Strong business judgment and the ability to identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, cash flow, and financial performance.
