Job Description
Description Amanda Warren is looking for an Assistant Controller to join a distribution company based in Sacramento, California. This role is integral to managing daily accounting operations, ensuring precise financial reporting, and enhancing internal processes. The Assistant Controller will oversee a team of accounting staff, collaborate with various departments, and contribute to the company's overall financial strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and develop a team of accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering attention to detail.
- Manage the full-cycle month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations while supporting audits and maintaining strong internal controls.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost accounting and inventory management.
- Oversee capital expenditure tracking, fixed asset schedules, and depreciation activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, streamlining workflows, and enhancing data accuracy.
- Support system optimization initiatives, including automation and standardization across multiple entities.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership to aid in decision-making and performance evaluation.
- Partner with corporate finance to consolidate subsidiary financial results into broader organizational reporting. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
- Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and preparing financial reports.
- Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as Oracle, JD Edwards, NetSuite, or Epicor.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
- Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and manufacturing operations.
- Experience in supporting audits and maintaining compliance with internal controls.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive process improvements.
