Our construction client in Emeryville is seeking an interim Controller for a 2+ month engagement. This role will take full ownership of the accounting function, provide leadership to a developing team, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in construction accounting, including job costing, work in progress analysis, and month-end close, along with the ability to support operational and financial discipline across the business. This role requires onsite work in Emeryville, CA and is expected to pay between $80-$90/hr. DOE.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day accounting function and oversee core financial operations across the organization
• Manage the monthly close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are complete and reliable
• Direct and support team members across accounts receivable, payroll, senior accounting, and accounts payable activities as needed
• Maintain accurate construction accounting records with a strong focus on job costing and work in progress reporting
• Monitor cash management activities, lending requirements, and bank covenant compliance related to the company's line of credit
• Review accounts payable processes and strengthen controls to improve accuracy, accountability, and efficiency
• Provide financial oversight for payroll operations, including coordination across a union workforce environment
• Use Viewpoint Vista to manage accounting workflows, reporting, and financial data integrity
• Partner with operational leaders to improve accounting processes and support business decisions with clear financial insight
