Full-Time, 40 hours per week Job Summary Reporting to the Vice President, Institutional Advancement, the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Engagement serves as a key member of the Institutional Advancement (IA) leadership team, providing strategic leadership for the division's communications, volunteer engagement, events, and annual giving programs in support of Occidental College's fundraising priorities. The Assistant Vice President, Strategic Engagement develops and leads an integrated engagement strategy that aligns constituent communications, events, and volunteer engagement with institutional fundraising goals, strengthening the donor pipeline and advancing a culture of philanthropy. In partnership with Institutional Advancement and campus leaders, the Assistant Vice President, Strategic Engagement develops compelling cases for support and engagement strategies that communicate the impact of philanthropy and inspire donor investment. The Assistant Vice President, Strategic Engagement leads the Alumni & Parent Engagement and Annual Giving teams and collaborates closely with the College's Office of Marketing & Communications to ensure aligned messaging, branding, and engagement strategies. The ideal candidate is an innovative engagement leader with exceptional communication, relationship-building, and management skills and a demonstrated ability to translate institutional priorities into effective fundraising strategies and measurable philanthropic outcomes. - The AVP-SE fosters collaboration across IA and campus departments to deliver an integrated, constituent-centered experience that drives awareness and volunteer engagement toward philanthropic support and growth of the donor pipeline.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for IA communications, branding, Annual Giving, Alumni & Parent Engagement, and events management and programming.

- The AVP-SE provides strategic leadership for cohesive Institutional Advancement communications and event programs, developing an integrated communications strategy that advances fundraising priorities, strengthens constituent relationships, and highlights the impact of philanthropy.
- Lead an integrated IA communications plan and content strategy that connects institutional priorities, philanthropic goals, and constituent engagement efforts targeting alumni, parents, donors, volunteers, and key stakeholders. Lead the strategy for IA's on
- and off-campus events, creating meaningful experiences that strengthen alumni and volunteer engagement, inspire philanthropy and advocacy, and advance the College's mission.

- Support strategic leadership of the Alumni & Parent Engagement team, ensuring a comprehensive approach to building lifelong relationships and purposeful volunteerism that leads to giving and advocacy.

- Support strategic leadership for Oxy's Annual Giving program, ensuring a donor-centered, multi-channel fundraising strategy that strengthens donor acquisition, retention, and pipeline development while achieving Oxy Fund fundraising goals.
- Provide coaching and management to the Director of Annual Giving, supporting their establishment of clear goals, performance expectations, and annual giving team accountability.
- (Essential) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, public relations, fundraising/development, marketing, communications, leadership, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE
$142,000/yr- 175,000/yr If you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and/or geographic location.
