Company DescriptionUnited Collective is a privately owned holding company that operates a marketing and advertising agency, a youth sports business and a ready-to drink-cocktail company. The company is based in Huntington Beach, CA .We are looking for an interim Controller with solid accounting skills to help us run our AIM sports business and our South Norte ready-to-drink cocktail business. Two separate businesses under one owner. The interim period is three to six months with an opportunity to become full-time. This is an entrepreneurial environment where you will be exposed to all financial aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and hit the ground running. You will need to pick things up quickly and move fast.

Job DescriptionThe Controller is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations for the AIM and South Norte companies. The position reports to the CFO and supervises the AIM Accounting Manager and the South Norte Finance Manager. This is an in-office position in Huntington Beach, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain separate company books on QuickBooksManage the monthly close for AIM and South Norte and develop detailed close schedules for each companyEnsure that all balance sheets and subledgers are reconciledEnsure that proper controls are in place for paying vendorsEnsure proper recording of employee benefit entriesOversee intercompany transactionsReview bank reconciliations for all the companiesEstablish controls for handling cash and depositsManage the revenue recognition processPrepare cash flow forecastsEnsure annual budgets are loaded into the accounting systemsEnsure that payroll is processed properly through PaylocityManage insurance policies for each companyMange banking relationships in cooperation with the CFOManage fixed assets and leasehold improvementsEnsure that quarterly sales and use tax returns are filed properlyManage the year end 1099 processManage the 401k annual auditProvide financial schedules to auditors and tax preparersQualificationsFive plus years accounting experience required in various industriesExperience in a project accounting environment preferredStrong attention to detail is a mustAbility to work with a broad range of peopleAbility to analyze and give recommendations on business operationsSkilled at developing procedures and training staff to follow themExperience at managing and mentoring staffAdditional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
