The College is located in an internationally recognized arts colony in Laguna Beach, California and offers a diversity of majors in Animation, Graphic Design and Digital Media, Fine Art, Game Development, Illustration, and Entertainment Design.
Position Summary:
The Vice President of Advancement provides focused and passionate leadership in strategic direction and fundraising, proactively increasing fundraising contributions with an emphasis on major gifts, maintaining and stewarding existing partners, identifying, securing, and engaging new partners, and successfully communicating the College's goals and objectives to all constituents through a variety of compelling channels. The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for the management of the Office of Advancement and is a primary liaison to all alumni and volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides overall leadership and strategic direction for all Advancement functions, including fundraising, alumni relations, donor relations, and communications. Develops and executes a comprehensive advancement strategy aligned with the College's mission, vision, and long-term institutional priorities. Serves as a member of the senior leadership team, advising the President on fundraising, external relations, and institutional positioning. In conjunction with the President, leads all institutional fundraising efforts and sets and monitors fundraising goals, revenue targets, and performance metrics across the Advancement team. Cultivates, solicits, and stewards major and principal gift donors, including high-net-worth individuals, alumni, and foundations. Provides strategic oversight of the alumni relations program, ensuring strong engagement that supports long-term philanthropic growth. In conjunction with the President, leads planning and execution of capital campaigns, endowment growth strategies, and major institutional initiatives. Partners with academic and administrative leadership to identify funding priorities and opportunities. Plans and executes thoughtful and compelling fundraising programs for the College by securing major, capital, and planned gifts, as well as annual gifts and endowment support and aligning institutional priorities with donor interests and benefits. Supports and engages the Board in fundraising and advancement efforts. Works with the President and Board of Trustees to identify, secure, engage, and steward new institutional partners, as well as prospective Trustees. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with LCAD's stakeholders including Board leadership, and support group members, donors, alumni, volunteers, corporate partners and prospects, staff, faculty, vendors, and the community at large. Facilitates and fosters an environment of appropriate collaboration among Board leadership, volunteers, faculty, and staff. Works closely with the President, Board of Trustees, Academic Leadership, and the Office of Marketing + Communications to achieve advancement goals. Oversees budget management, reporting, and resource allocation for the Office of Advancement. Ensures effective use of donor tracking, analytics, and pipeline management while establishing and monitoring KPIs, data analytics, and performance reporting to drive decision-making. Ensures compliance with gift policies, ethical standards, and legal regulations.

Position Requirements, Experience, and Education:

This individual must have a desire to work in a team-oriented environment that serves a diverse population. Education Bachelor's degree required or commensurate education and experience. Master's degree preferred (nonprofit management, business, higher education, or related field). Experience 10-15 years of nonprofit fundraising and/or leadership experience in progressively challenging positions. Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising (often including gifts at $100k+ or higher). Experience leading comprehensive campaigns. Experience in higher education or nonprofit sector required. Licenses Must have a valid U.S. driver's license and carry automobile insurance coverage. Automobile insurance coverage must meet minimum liability insurance requirements for private passenger vehicles. Although not required, it is recommended to have the following insurance limits: bodily injury liability insurance coverage of at least $50,000 per person/$50,000 per accident and property damage liability of $5,000 per accident. Supervisory Responsibility This position leads, manages, and develops the Office of Advancement. The Office of Marketing + Communications also reports to the Vice President of Advancement. Position Requirements Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Advanced proficiency in Google Gmail and Calendar required. Advanced proficiency within fundraising CRM systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge) required, and the ability to use data and metrics to drive institutional performance. Senior executive with exceptional leadership, supervisory, analytical, and strategic planning skills. Proven administrative competence and managerial ability: experience building, managing, and strengthening teams. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of institutional advancement. Demonstrated success in setting and achieving institutional fundraising goals. Ability to work effectively with the President, Trustees, and other volunteers and partners. Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to the vitality, success, values, and purposes of an art and design education. Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new donors. Ability to make decisions that will positively represent the College's reputation on a daily basis. Demonstrated ability as a relationship builder who is engaged, outgoing, and a thoughtful communicator. Demonstrated effectiveness as a culturally competent professional with broad experience interacting with and supporting the needs of a diverse student population and/or staff and faculty. Excellent listening skills with a respectful, consultative, and accessible leadership style. Demonstrated ability to relate easily to a wide range of College constituents. Possesses high energy, a positive attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and a high degree of initiative, integrity, and resilience. Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team required. Must be self-motivated, focused, and proactive. Excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills required. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding environment required. Experience in higher education or nonprofit fundraising required. Must be able to drive personal vehicle for business purposes and must pass DMV background check and have minimum insurance requirements as set by LCAD. Physical Essential Functions:
Sitting, typing, and moving from one place to another. This position takes place indoors in an office environment sitting at a desk and working in front of a computer. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
Business Hours:
Regular business hours for the College are Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Regular hours may vary based on the College's needs and type of position. Weekend and evening hours may be required. Travel will be required.
Classification and Status:
This is an exempt position. This is a regular, full-time position. This is a benefits-eligible position.
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$148,904.88 - $190,000.00 per year The posted salary range reflects the College's anticipated hiring salary range, but the final salary range is subject to negotiation and additional factors, such as the candidate's background, experience, and alignment with institutional needs.
Background Check:
This individual will be required to undergo a job-related background check, inclusive of employment and education verification. Some positions may require successful completion of a post-offer agility test. Employment is contingent on satisfactory results of the aforementioned, in addition to compliance with requirements cited in this job description.

Employment with the College is "at-will" meaning that the terms of employment may be changed with or without notice, with or without cause, including but not limited to termination, demotion, promotion, transfer, compensation, benefits, duties, and location of work.
