Job Description
Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, including general ledger management, financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial data, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate will bring strong real estate industry experience and a deep understanding of complex accounting transactions.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee general ledger activities, including maintenance of accounts, fixed assets, and reconciliations Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and financial statements Prepare and review closing statement journal entries and loan closing journal entries Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis Lead audit preparation efforts, including development of schedules and coordination with external auditors Perform detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis and budgeting support Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Oversee job cost accounting and ensure accurate project cost tracking and reporting Collaborate with lenders and support corporate banking activities, including financing and cash management Assist with property tax appeals and provide supporting financial documentation Support cost segregation studies and related accounting treatment Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and professional developmentQualifications:
