The North American Division was established over fifteen years ago to introduce and grow a Food Ingredient product portfolio across the North American marketplace. POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller is a senior financial leadership role responsible for the full scope of the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. Reporting directly to the President, the Controller will serve as a key strategic partner in managing the financial health of Pak Group LLC and its related entities. This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong technical accounting skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to scale financial systems as the company grows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Accounting Oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Produce comprehensive management reporting packages including variance analysis and key performance metrics. Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistency across all entities. Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning Lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process in collaboration with senior leadership. Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support strategic decision-making. Monitor financial performance against budget and provide actionable analysis of variances. Provide financial analyses for capital investments, business opportunities, and contract negotiations. Internal Controls & Compliance Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations, including payroll tax and California-specific requirements. Coordinate and manage the annual external audit and tax return preparation with outside CPA firms. Maintain compliance with GAAP standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Ensure all financial policies and procedures are documented, current, and adhered to by staff. Multi-Entity & Cash Management Manage accounting across multiple legal entities, ensuring proper intercompany eliminations and consolidations. Oversee cash flow management, treasury operations, and banking relationships. Initiate wire transfers, ACH payments, and significant financial transactions. Manage relationships with lenders, insurance brokers, and financial institutions. Team Leadership & Development Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team; conduct regular performance reviews. Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration. Partner cross-functionally with operations, HR, and executive leadership to provide financial insight. Serve as the financial resource and subject-matter expert for department managers throughout the organization. Systems & Technology Oversee the use and optimization of accounting software and ERP systems (Netsuite). Lead or support ERP/accounting system upgrades, implementations, or integrations as needed. Leverage technology to drive efficiencies, reduce manual processes, and improve reporting capabilities. Human Resources Manage the company's relationship with it's Professional Employer Organization (PEO), supplier for the company's payroll and human resources needs. Act as the company's lead for employee human resource needs. Advise management as to best practices for human resource topics.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role. CPA license (active or inactive) or CMA Certification is strongly preferred. Proven experience managing multi-entity accounting and consolidations. Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting best practices. Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems). Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and other MS Office tools. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a small-to-mid-size accounting team. Excellent communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to present financials to non-financial stakeholders. Preferred Experience in food manufacturing, food ingredients, consumer packaged goods, or distribution industries. Familiarity with California employment and tax law. Experience working in a privately held, owner-operated, or family business environment. Prior experience supporting or preparing for external audits. MBA or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance a plus. Experience with Netsuite ERP is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based at The Pak Group's North American Division headquarters in Pasadena, California. The role is full-time and in-office, with flexibility based on business needs. Some domestic travel may be required to visit customers, distributors, or company facilities. Occasional international coordination with the European parent organization may also be expected.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Competitive base salary: $150,000
  • $175,000 depending on experience.
