Our team provides qualified Accounting and Finance professionals on a temporary and permanent basis across a broad range of industries. GHJ's relationship with our Global Advisory and Accounting Network provides the resources needed to better understand client's needs, attract a higher caliber of candidates and assess candidate potential. Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of our manufacturing facility in Sylmar, CA. This fully onsite role will oversee all accounting functions, manage cost accounting and inventory processes, ensure accurate monthly financial reporting, and partner with operations leadership to drive financial performance. The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing experience, expertise in cost accounting, and a proactive leadership approach. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare and review timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Present financial results and KPIs to executive leadership Develop and maintain internal controls Cost Accounting & Inventory Management Oversee standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances Manage inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods Partner with operations to improve margins and production efficiencies Manufacturing Operations Support Work closely with plant leadership to analyze production metrics and cost drivers Develop KPIs related to labor efficiency, scrap, throughput, and inventory turnover Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement Cash Flow, Banking & Compliance Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury functions Maintain banking relationships and oversee credit facilities Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and regulatory requirements Coordinate annual audits and tax filings Team Leadership Supervise and mentor accounting staff Establish and improve accounting policies and procedures Drive ERP system optimization and process automation initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership in a manufacturing environment Strong cost accounting and inventory management expertise Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with ERP systems (manufacturing modules preferred) CPA preferred Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities #GHJSS #LI-JE1 We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
