This role ensures compliance with GAAP and the Davis-Stirling Act, supporting financial transparency and operational excellence for Homeowners Associations (HOAs). The Controller reports directly to the General Manager and oversees a small accounting team.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting operations, including maintenance of the general ledger and trial balance Prepare monthly financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules Deliver accurate, timely financial reports to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and leadership team Perform variance analysis and evaluate departmental financial performance Maintain fixed asset records and manage depreciation schedules Ensure compliance with
GAAP, FASB
standards, and internal policies Manage cash flow, including bank reconciliations and disbursement processes Uphold policies Support internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation Assess and strengthen internal control systems Oversee accounts receivable accuracy and authorize accounts payable transactions Review vendor and subcontractor agreements, as well as expense reports Lead accounting team Communicate financial updates and best practices clearly and professionally
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field 35 years of experience as a Controller, ideally within an HOA or property management company CPA or CHAE designation strongly preferred Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities Strong organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills Exceptional attention to detail and financial acumen High level of integrity with the ability to meet deadlines in a collaborative environment Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Experience with HOA accounting systems is a plus About Tritz Professional Management Services Inc Management through involvement
