Job Description

Position Summary The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for managing the monthly close process, supervising accounting staff, maintaining internal controls, and supporting audits and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting knowledge, experience in inventory-based businesses, and a proven ability to improve processes within a growing organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances. Accounting Operations Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions. Supervise and mentor accounting team members. Maintain accounting policies and procedures. Ensure accuracy of account reconciliations and balance sheet schedules. Inventory & Operational Accounting Manage inventory accounting and valuation processes. Review inventory adjustments, reserves, and reconciliations. Partner with operations and warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy. Support inventory counts and cycle count procedures. Audit, Tax & Compliance Coordinate annual financial statement audits. Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other compliance requirements. Support external tax advisors with annual income tax filings. Maintain strong internal controls and accounting documentation. Systems & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency. Support ongoing ERP optimization and reporting enhancements. Assist with implementation of accounting best practices and automation initiatives. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience. 3+ years of management experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience managing month-end close processes. Preferred Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive environments. Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems. Public accounting background. CPA license Key Competencies Strong leadership and team development skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities High attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
