Salary Range:
$110,000.00 to $140,000.00 Reports to:

Schedule:
Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, standard office hours. Position Summary We're looking for a Plant Controller to own day-to-day accounting and financial operations at a growing manufacturing facility, including monthly close, cost accounting, budgeting/forecasting, and financial business partnership with plant leadership. This is a hands-on, build-as-you-go role. This role is well suited to someone energized by a fast-paced environment and the opportunity to build and define processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Financial Operations & Close :
Own month-end close, manage general ledger accuracy and account reconciliations, and day-to-day accounting operations for the plant. Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policy.
Budgeting, Reporting, & Forecasting :
Maintain and take ownership of financial reporting (actuals vs. budget vs. prior year), including GL-to-budget mapping. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, forecasts, and variance reports.
Cost Accounting & Tracking :
Set and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead; analyze manufacturing variances (material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption). Oversee inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes. Perform product costing and margin analysis by SKU/product line. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to improve productivity and reduce waste.
Business Partnership:
Work alongside supply chain and operations stakeholders to ensure financial controls keep pace as production volume scales. Support production supervisors on cost tracking and capital expenditure planning and analysis. Present financial results to plant leadership and corporate finance. Support pricing and costing decisions for new products or customer programs. Identify and help resolve accounting issues arising from the new ERP-integrated production process.
Team Leadership:
Manage plant accounting staff and develop and mentor accounting team members. Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and procurement teams to align financial goals with operational strategies. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variances
  • Cost Accounting - standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
  • Month-end close processes and journal entry review
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of production and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to translate operational data into financial insights
  • Ability to work cross functionally and influence without direct authority
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Outlook and have familiarity with BI tools
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience managing, developing or mentoring accounting staff
Preferred Qualifications:
ERP experience (Famous experience preferred but not required). CPA or CMA is preferred but not required. Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods of time.
  • Regularly operates a computer for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Occasional lifting for up to 15 pounds when office equipment needs to be moved.
  • Inspects, prepares, and analyzes digital and physical documents with strong attention to detail.
