Our unique meals and snacks are healthy and delicious! As our Controller , you will be a key part of our leadership team, overseeing the full spectrum of our accounting and financial activities. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with experience in small-to-mid-sized businesses who is ready to roll up their sleeves, lead a small accounting team, and drive financial strategy in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Strategy Oversee all accounting and finance operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations. Collaborate closely with the President & CFO to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with company goals. Provide guidance to senior management on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Lead the annual budgeting process and regularly update rolling forecasts. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow) with insights to support decision-making. Monitor key financial and operational metrics; provide in-depth variance analysis and recommendations for improvement. Oversee the production of ad-hoc reports and analysis for the leadership team and board as needed. Drive the continuous improvement of financial reporting tools and processes. Cash Flow Management Develop and maintain detailed cash flow projections to ensure adequate funding for operations and growth initiatives. Manage banking relationships, including lines of credit and loans, to optimize the company's cash position. Internal Controls & Compliance Establish, monitor, and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including sales tax, payroll tax, and any relevant industry-specific regulations. Coordinate and support external audits, including the preparation of required audit schedules and documentation. Month & Year-End Close Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and distribute month-end reports, highlighting financial performance and key insights. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with internal teams (Manufacturing, HR, Warehousing, Marketing) to align financial objectives with operational activities. Partner with operations to refine costing, inventory management, and production efficiency. Provide financial guidance and support to various departments for project evaluations and major initiatives. Team Leadership & Development Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training, guidance, and performance management. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and accountability within the finance function. Data & KPI Tracking Collaborate with leadership to identify, track, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Support cost savings projects and G&A budgeting, ensuring alignment with financial goals. Project Support & Analysis Drive analytics for informed decision-making, including product profitability, operational improvements, and strategic planning. Analyze progress against major initiatives and communicate findings to leadership for continuous improvement. Additional Responsibilities As a small, fast-growing company, you may occasionally assist in areas outside of finance and accounting. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized company; Controller or Accounting Manager experience highly desired. Minimum 3-5 years of CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) or manufacturing experience (preferred). Technical Skills Advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with common accounting systems. Strong understanding of GAAP and experience implementing and maintaining internal controls. Analytical prowess with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data for management insights. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word; experience with other financial and ERP software is a plus. Organization & Communication Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders. High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Additional Requirements Willingness to wear many hats in a small, fast-growing environment, including occasional duties outside of the finance realm. Some travel may be required to meet with vendors or attend industry events. Familiarity with the EOS Traction System (preferred) or a willingness to learn how we operate within this entrepreneurial framework. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus and highly valued.
