Controller Redding, Connecticut, United States Apply for this job Controller Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of a private golf and tennis club with approximately $7 million in annual operations . This individual will be the senior accounting leader and will work closely with the General Manager, Finance Committee, Board, and department leaders. The role combines hands-on accounting leadership with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, cash management, and operational support across the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, cash activity, reconciliations, and member billing Manage the monthly close and preparation of financial statements and management reporting Review operating results, identify trends, and explain significant budget-to-actual variances Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process Develop financial forecasts and assist with longer-term financial planning Partner with department leaders to monitor spending and improve financial performance Provide financial oversight for golf, tennis/paddle, food & beverage, events, clubhouse operations, grounds, membership, and facilities Monitor major cost areas including labor, inventory, purchasing, food, and beverage Manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships Maintain and strengthen internal controls, purchasing procedures, segregation of duties, and cash-handling processes Monitor member receivables and collections Track capital spending against approved budgets and maintain appropriate fixed-asset and depreciation accounting Coordinate the annual audit/review and work directly with the outside CPA firm Prepare financial packages for the General Manager, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors Provide financial analysis related to dues, fees, staffing, capital investments, and other major business decisions Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus Approximately 5-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, CFO, or senior-level accounting professional preferred Experience within a country club, hospitality, resort, restaurant, or membership-based organization is helpful but not required Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems Ability to analyze and consolidate information from multiple data sources; Power BI experience is a plus Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both operational leaders and senior management Apply for this job
