Job Description

Lank, Johnson & Tull is seeking an experienced financial and operational leader to work directly with the firm's partners and help guide the business side of our growing CPA firm. This is not a traditional accounting manager or administrative position. We are looking for someone who can step back, understand how the firm is performing, identify opportunities to operate more effectively, and help turn financial and operational information into better business decisions. The right person will serve as a trusted advisor to the partners, bringing financial discipline, operational insight, and a willingness to challenge the status quo when there is a better way forward. What You'll Lead Financial Strategy & Performance Lead the firm's internal accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow planning Develop meaningful financial reporting and analysis for the partners Monitor profitability, margins, expenses, working capital, and key performance indicators Analyze the financial impact of staffing, compensation, pricing, technology, and other significant decisions Oversee billing, WIP, accounts receivable, collections, and cash management Strengthen financial controls, policies, and reporting processes Identify opportunities to improve profitability and deploy resources more effectively Firm Operations & Strategy Evaluate how the firm operates and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, capacity, and accountability Lead process improvement initiatives across departments Evaluate technology, automation, systems, and vendor relationships Help leadership translate strategic decisions into execution Develop scalable processes as the firm grows Lead operational planning for tax season and other peak periods Identify unnecessary complexity, expense, or administrative burden and recommend solutions People & Organizational Effectiveness Provide leadership to the firm's administrative and support functions Partner with leadership on staffing levels, organizational structure, and workforce planning Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and compensation planning Oversee payroll, benefits, retirement plans, PTO, and related internal HR administration Establish clear ownership, accountability, and reporting throughout the firm's administrative functions Help ensure the firm is using its people at the highest and best level Partner & Executive Support Serve as a financial and operational thought partner to the firm's partners Provide analysis and recommendations rather than simply reporting results Help evaluate investments, new initiatives, and growth opportunities Bring visibility to emerging financial or operational issues before they become larger problems Challenge existing practices constructively when the data supports a better approach Help leadership balance profitability, efficiency, employee experience, client service, and long-term growth Who We're Looking For We're interested in accomplished professionals who have operated at a Controller, Director of Finance, Director of Operations, Firm Administrator, VP of Finance, CFO, or comparable leadership level . The strongest candidates will bring substantial experience in financial management and business operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, financial analysis, internal controls, process improvement, and leadership. Experience in a CPA firm or other professional-services environment is valuable, but we are also interested in experienced financial leaders from other industries who have demonstrated the ability to understand a business, improve how it operates, and advise ownership or executive leadership. A CPA, MBA, CGMA, or similar credential is welcomed but not required. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional who doesn't simply want to manage a function , but wants to have a meaningful role in how a firm is run and where it goes next . About Lank, Johnson & Tull Lank, Johnson & Tull is an established Delaware CPA firm serving businesses, individuals, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, and affordable housing organizations. Our team provides accounting, tax, audit, and advisory services from our offices in Seaford and Milford. We offer a collaborative environment where this position will have direct access to firm leadership and a genuine opportunity to influence how we operate and grow. Work Schedule Tax Season, January through April Monday through
Thursday:
8:00 AM to 7:00
PM Friday:
8:00 AM to 5:00
PM Saturday:
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Off-Season, May through December Standard business hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday Fridays off from Memorial Day through Labor Day Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, professional development assistance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
