Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will support the Controller by managing general accounting operations and overseeing general ledgers, directing the accounting team, preparing financial statements, and enforcing internal controls.
Essential Job Functions:
Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting:
Oversee day-to-day entries, adjustments, and account reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, cash flow reports, and variance analyses. Coordinate timely periodic financial closes. Support divisions as needed.
Compliance and Auditing:
Establish and enforce internal controls designed to protect company assets and ensure data integrity. Provide audit support by serving as a point of contact and preparing documentation for external and internal auditors. Keep informed with GAAP or IFRS guidelines and file local or state tax documents.
Team Leadership:
Direct, train, and mentor junior accounting staff. Assist with problem resolution arising from system issues.
Process Optimization:
Leverage AI tools like Claude to automate workflows and create efficiencies. Draft standard operating procedures and other process documentation. Other essential functions (but not limited to): Intercompany accounting Shareholder distribution Corporate credit card program administrator Detailed freight (inbound and outbound) understanding
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in an accounting position. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business; MBA is a plus. CPA, CMA, and other accounting certification are a plus but not required. Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices. Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and complex problem solving. Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products, primarily Outlook and Excel Experience with Oracle Fusion, Concur, and Netsuite is preferred.
Required travel:
less than 5%.
Other Skills/Abilities:
Strong organization with a high level of attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Physical Demands:
Seated at a desk working on a computer for extended periods of time.
