Job Summary The Controller is responsible for leading all day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing a small accounting team and owning the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the company's financial reporting. This position requires a strong technical accounting background, the ability to manage and improve processes, and a willingness to be directly involved in the details when needed. Work Schedule This position reports to an office located in Orlando, FL Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Responsibilities Own and manage the full monthly close process across multiple entities Prepare and/or review financial statements including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Oversee and support A/R and A/P functions, ensuring timely collections and payments Supervise and develop accounting staff, including Staff Accountant and A/P Clerk Manage intercompany transactions and entity-level financial reporting Maintain and improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls Coordinate with external CPA firm, tax advisors, and auditors Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management Assist leadership with financial analysis and reporting as needed Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards Qualifications 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager preferred Strong experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation Experience working with multiple entities required Property management, construction, or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred Hands-on approach with the ability to both lead and execute Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Experience using NetSuite is preferred, or an equivalent business management platform Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off and holidays Equal Opportunity Statement Berman Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
