Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead financial operations for a private club environment in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This Long-term Contract position will guide accounting, reporting, budgeting, and administrative functions while supporting leadership with financial insight and operational oversight. The role requires a hands-on leader who can strengthen controls, promote fiscal discipline, and help deliver a high standard of service to members and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery to leadership.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities in partnership with department leaders to support sound financial decisions.
- Manage the general ledger, account structures, and period-end close processes to maintain complete and reliable financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, member billing, collections, and vendor disbursements across daily accounting operations.
- Establish and monitor internal control practices that protect club assets and support compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
- Review reconciliations, journal entries, fixed asset records, and depreciation schedules to maintain strong accounting integrity.
- Provide financial analysis, variance reporting, and practical recommendations to the General Manager and Board to improve performance and control costs.
- Supervise the Accounting Office, Membership Administration, and Front Member Services functions to promote efficient workflows and a high-quality member experience.
- Identify administrative and financial process improvements, including document management and record-handling efficiencies, to enhance accuracy and productivity. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial leadership roles.
- Prior experience managing accounting teams and overseeing day-to-day financial operations.
- Background in a private club, golf club, hospitality, resort, or country club setting is strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.
- Familiarity with member billing, collections, payroll processes, and vendor payment administration.
- Experience using Jonas Club Software and strong skills in document control, document scanning, and compiling financial records.
- Certification such as CPA, CMA, or a similar credential is preferred.
